Jacob Aertsen, born in Ultrecht, son of Aert Jacobsen,

1620 - son Aertsen Jacobsen was born.

1637 - Jacob traveled by ship to New Amsterdam, Albany County, New York, USA on the ship "Calmer Sleutel" (Calm Water) Dec. 1637, (25 years of age), he was indentured as a farm employee, serving Albert Andriesz.

In 1639 Jacob moved to Rensselaerswyck, Albany Co, NY and was employed by Cornelis Maesen VanBuren.

In 1646 this contract of service was completed, and he was engaged as an employee of Evert Pels, who was a native of Stettin, Germany.

On August 4, 1642 with his son Aert Jacobsen, who was born 1620 in Wagenengin, Guilderland, Holland, together, they sailing on the "Calmer Sleutel", arriving at Rensselaerwyck, NY.

In 1648 the Patroon's Court ordered Jacob to serve out his contract, which required one more year of service.

As early as 1648 his son Aert occupied a farm at Bethlehem under lease... This is most likely the reason he chose not to continue to serve Pels and the reason for the court order.

1653 - 21 May 1653 Aert Jacobsen, Rutgers Jacobsen, Teunis Jacobsen and Evert Pels took oath of allegiance to the Patroon of Albany.

1655 - From the records of the Corporation of Kingston,NY, the 1st volume of those minutes open with the Indian Treaty made on Oct. 7, 1655 between Governor Nicolls and certain Sachems (Indian Chiefs), Jacob Aertsen is listed as in attendance."

1660 - His son Aert purchased land in Esopus, NY, 17 Sept 1660, and there afterwards lived in Kingston, NY.

1666 His son Aert died.

Jacob died in Beverwyck, New Netherlands
